Society is highly reliant on accurate and reliable position information, also in environments and situations where satellite based positioning is degraded or not available at all, namely under interference and in urban areas and indoors. There is no single technology available which would fulfill user requirements so far, and therefore the system has to be based on multi sensor fusion.
The Sensors and Indoor Navigation group does research on
- Various sensors for positioning and situational awareness, from classical inertial sensors to emerging optical sensors
- Intelligent and adaptive data fusion algorithms
- Indoor navigation techniques, including sensors and signals of opportunity
The goal of the group’s research is to provide everyone with reliable and accurate position information, despite the situation, environment and equipment used.
1-March-2015: Research Group "Sensors and Indoor Navigation (SINA)" was established.
